this past week has flown by, and with each passing week, I realize that my "holiday season" is right now!
yesterday I received information from a second art gallery that would like me to participate in their holiday show.
the first one was in Milwaukee (still haven't heard back from them on the specifics), and this second one is in Fort Wayne, IN - Artlink Gallery.
the executive director had purchased a piece from me last June, at the Covington art fair, and e-mailed me last week to ask if I would like to sell my work in their "Holiday Gift Box."
how cool is that!
it just proves the point, once again, that no matter the immediate outcome at an art show, there's always something good that happens, and sometimes it's down the road...
the info. I received yesterday explains the show, and it begins October 29th!
which means, I really have to kick it in high gear the next couple of weeks.
this, in addition to all my regular holiday commitments, and orders that are coming in!
and art shows for next year have application deadlines starting, well, now.
I had to run to town yesterday with an app. for a January exhibit.
I really must have Christmas (for my art business) under control and everything completed by Thanksgiving.
but it always seems as though it creeps up on me, faster and faster each year.
when I went to town this last week, Younkers had their Christmas Tree display up already!
the nice thing about it is by the time Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) rolls around, everyone else will start to panic, and I can step back, take a breath, and start working on stuff for our family celebration, whatever it happens to be.
I have made it a policy for years now, NOT to leave the house the day after Thanksgiving.
I don't go the stores, fight crowds, scramble for parking, spend too much - none of it!
we have simplified our holiday shopping considerably, and do almost all of it online, and/or from catalogs.
and this year I will also enlist the help of black-friday.net.
This site will let people purchase Black Friday items online without the hassle of having to stand in line at the store at 5am.
so I can still take advantage of the day-after-Thanksgiving-Target-specials, and never leave the house.
heck, I don't have to get out of my pajamas, if I don't want to!
I'll put on a pot of turkey black bean soup, make a cup of tea, and leasurely shop from home.
but for now, I've got to go, get back to work.
later,
Patty
